Qualifying Criteria (Typical)

To be eligible for counselling, candidates generally need to score at or above the following percentiles (approximate, based on recent trends):

  • General / UR / EWS: 50th percentile
  • OBC / SC / ST: 40th percentile
  • PwD (General): 45th percentile
  • PwD (Reserved): 40th percentile

Actual marks corresponding to these percentiles vary every year depending on paper difficulty and number of candidates.

Key Observations

  • Competition has intensified — more candidates appear every year for a limited number of MBBS seats.
  • Clearing the qualifying cutoff only makes you eligible for counselling. Government medical colleges (especially top ones) require much higher scores.
  • For AIIMS / top government colleges, aim for 650+ marks (varies by year and category).
  • State quotas and category reservations significantly affect the effective cutoff for a given college.
